Nordic Marine Quality Surveyors Ltd. (NMQS) is a joint venture between Michael Hansen and Jens Naldal.

Our goal as a marine consultancy is to support a wide range of companies within the maritime industry, from shipowners and operators to banks and investors, marine entrepreneurs, equipment manufactures and other marine professionals.

We strive to be best in class and offer tailor-made solutions which meet our customer's requirement and expectations.

Jens Naldal

CAPTAIN – SIRE VETTING INSPECTOR &

STS SUPERINTENDENT

Extensive and varied experience at sea and ashore in shipping companies such as TORM, BP GAS TANKERS, KNUD I. LARSEN, J. LAURITZEN and T-RED.

HSEQ superintendent, including ISM/ISPS audits, accident investigations and new building supervision. OCIMF – SIRE Vetting inspector.

Former instructor of oil, chemical and gas tanker STCW courses. Executive management experience as the director of a Nautical Academy.

Michael Hansen

NAVAL ARCHITECT & LEAD AUDITOR ISO/ISM/ISPS. FORMER DECK OFFICER IN MAERSK TANKERS, MERCANDIA AND DANIA SHIPPING.

Having a wide range of experience at sea and within technical management in Danish shipping companies such as ERRIA, DFDS, TORM and Clipper.

Overall responsible for several new building site teams in China and Vietnam; implementing ship-transshipment (ship mobilization), ISM/ISPS, vessel energy-optimization, vessel repair, equipment retrofit and latest as General Manager in Danish marine consultancy ERRIA.

Qiu Huabin

MECHANICAL ENGINEER FROM JIUJIAND SHIPPING TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY. MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL SUPERVISOR ON SEVERAL NEW BUILDING PROJECTS.

Having been part of mechanical inspection and QC division at two large Chinese shipyards for about 10 years, Qiu changed side and became site supervisor representing mainly Scandinavian and South American shipowners. Overall responsible for the installation of propulsion, mechanical and electrical equipment onboard Chemical Tankers, PSVs, Patrol Boats and Robert Allan designed ASD tugs.

Part of NMQS inspector team in the Far East since 2017 and previously with Danish consultancy ERRIA.

WHAT WE DO

New building Supervision

Creating value for the owner by being present at all time during construction, thus assuring that all work is being made according to specification, class rules, international regulation and good craftsmanship. We make sure that all equipment is correctly installed and endurance tested for proper operation.

Delivery and Sea Trial Support

We offer to go onboard your vessel before sea-trial and issue a status report with remarks on all deviation to specification and good craftsmanship. During sea trial, we will ensure that all tests are carried out to high standard procedures.

At delivery, we ensure that all required documentation, certificates, test reports, operation manuals and drawing are handled over to owner. Minimum critical spare parts, tools and other requirements mentioned in the specification is checked as well.

Surveys and Inspections

Our condition surveys will give the customer a clear picture of the condition of the entire vessel from ballast and cargo tanks/holds – across cargo equipment, main and auxiliary engines, boilers, accommodation and navigation equipment, to maintenance history, class history and vessel certificates. Other services offered could be pre-purchase / bareboat charter inspections etc.

Contract Evaluation and Negotiation

ISM/ISPS/ISO Audits and Training

Do you need external ISM/ISPS/ISO compliance, certification and audits of your ships, office, suppliers or shipyard? If yes, we can be your trusted partner helping you optimising your KPI's and best practice within HSQE from audits, training and implementation. We are marine lead auditors within ISM/ISO 9001 and 14001 having many years’ experience within education, coaching and training of office people and crew.

Dry Docking and Retrofit

Preparation of a very detailed technical specification followed up by a detailed price evaluation are essential success criteria. We can support you in a professional way with hands-on on all details and achieve the best possible out of the matrix: Price, Time and Quality.
Our job is not finished before the final negotiation with the shipyard is closed with a good result and satisfied shipowner.

NEWS AND MEDIA

Delivery support and loading survey

Condition survey and sea trial support of two UZMAR ASD 2550 tugs was carried out at UZMAR yard and in the Bay of Izmit on behalf of South American owner through Canadian broker.

Tugs are 25 m long, 60 tons bollard pull and equipped with double Caterpillar 3512 main engines and Schottel Azimut propellers.

Delivery support and survey during towage and loading operation of two UZMAR ASD 2550 Tugs onboard heavy-lifter carried out at the Dubari Yarimaca Terminal in Turkey

Newbuilding supervision of chemical tanker in China

Site supervision during construction of one 5300 DWT River Chemical Tanker for Argentinean owner, being built at Jiangzhou Zhenjiang Shipyard. Site team includes Steel and Machinery Supervisor and Paint Inspector.

HazMat Experts

On the 5th of October 2018, all three partners of Nordic Marine Quality Surveyors completed certification as Approved HazMat Experts at DNV GL Copenhagen.

We are now able to offer this service in collaboration with a Danish class approved IHM service provider to DNV GL.

New supervision contract for 21m pilot boat project

We are happy to announce the start-up of supervision of one 21m Pilot Boat for Brazilian/Argentinian owner. The pilot boat is classed with Lloyd's Register as HSC (High Speed Craft) and is planned for delivery in autumn 2019. Our Michael Hansen is responsible for the project with our Chinese mechanical engineer Qiu Huabin as our site representative.

Welcome to Vibeke

NMQS welcomes Vibeke as our new inspector. Vibeke is a Master Mariner, HSQE expert and previous Company Marine Superintendent. We are happy to have Vibeke on board with her huge expertise in Offshore Wind Business.
